CODOLS APARTMENT
Heritage Architecture Meets Contemporary Luxury
This project began with the complete redesign of a protected 18th-century building in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, where our studio led the transformation of all 15 apartments. Once the development was completed, the new owners of one of the residences—a couple seeking a sophisticated pied-à-terre—commissioned us to furnish and personalize their two-bedroom home.
With its original wooden beams, tall ceilings, and oak parquet flooring, the apartment offered a strong architectural character. Our approach was to introduce a refined contemporary layer that enhanced, rather than competed with, the historic backdrop.
The clients’ love for cooking and entertaining guided the reconfiguration of the kitchen. We extended the space and added a bespoke stone island with integrated storage and a small library, creating a central gathering point that functions as both workspace and an engagement spot.
In the living area, we curated a mix of modern European pieces—Scandinavian seating, sculptural lighting, and a custom Italian dining table with a textured glass top. Clean lines, reflective surfaces, and collectible design objects bring a sense of quiet luxury while maintaining balance with the heritage elements.
The result is an elegant, understated interior that blends historic architecture with contemporary comfort—an intimate pied-à-terre tailored to the rhythm and lifestyle of its owners.
